Magic carpet accelerates security check:

SEDECT a Swiss high tech company develops and commercializes innovative products for airport security, passenger flow facilitation, and related applications.

Since the end of last year, a small high-tech carpet has been placed in front of the metal detectors at the Geneva Airport.

How it works:

+ passenger stands on the carpet
+ carpet checks the passenger’s shoes for metal
+ light flashes green, if the shoes can remain at the passenger’s feet
+ light it turns red, if the shoes must be put on the conveyor belt

Result:

+ 4 instead of 14 minutes waiting time announced by the Geneva airport chief security officer

The company SEDECT SA, a spinoff from the federal polytechnic of Lausanne (EPFL), was founded in 2015 and is based in Gland, Switzerland.
